The Commonground is a series of monthly events for young and emerging artists
across disciplines to meet their creative soulmates.
Organized and led entirely by volunteers, The Commonground is free of charge
for all 60 attendees. The evening begins with a brief group discussion, led by an
entertainment industry professional. This discussion will focus on “knowing the
table you sit at, and the table you want to sit at" -- that is, sharpening your sense
of self, your pitch, and what to look for in creative partners. The 60 artists are
then split into 3 groups of 20 to participate in the centerpiece of the evening: a
series of rapid-fire one-on-one networking meetings (à la speed dating).
Throughout Commonground meetings, there will be refreshments, sign-ups for
ongoing creative groups and projects, creative brainstorming tools to play and
plan with, and industry professionals to answer questions and provide guidance.
The Commonground operates on the belief that fostering great creative
partnerships leads to the creation of great art, and that great art is a service to all.
We seek to eliminate barriers-to-entry and increase the breadth of exposure
young artists have to like-minded collaborators.
We hope to hear "We got our start at The Commonground" for years to come!
