POSITION: Community Manager

Description:

The Artist Co-op is seeking a Community Manager to oversee The Artist Co-op’s Memberships and Daily Operations. The Artist Co-op is a coworking space for artists in Hell’s Kitchen. Our mission is to create a thriving environment that nurtures the innate multidisciplinary nature of the artist community. We opened in May 2017 with 20 founding members and now in March 2019 have 140 members.

The ideal candidate for the Community Manager loves arts and business. They like to maintain and manage a supportive space and community for artists.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Relations

    • Member

      • Get to know all members

      • Ensure Member billing (membership dues & rehearsal hours) are applied correctly

    • New Member

      • Prepare and Complete “New Member” set up

      • Onboard new members  

    • Non Member

      • Help book reservations, collect payments and explain TAC policies

      • Give tours to potential new clients

  • Maintenance & Operations

    • Technology

      • Comfortable learning and integrating technology and system to better serve TAC

    • Space

      • Responsible for overseeing and assisting with the cleanliness and maintenance of the space

      • Ordering supplies and keeping current and accurate records of inventory

      • Fix or replace broken office items, and arrange for professional maintenance when needed (ie. printer, piano, coffee maker)

      • Communicate with Building Management to resolve heat, plumbing or other building issues.

  • Desk Exchange Program

    • Hire

      • Work with Social Media coordinator to promote Desk Exchange opportunity

      • Interview potential candidates and select eligible volunteers

    • Train

      • Teach desk exchangers how to check in members/ non members, set up a booking, clean up the space, and TAC policies.

    • Manage

      • Ensure coverage for sick, absent or other desk exchange issues. A TAC representative must be in the space (at the front desk) from 3-10pm every day of the week

      • Oversee desk exchanger schedule and reach out to Floaters if need be.  

      • The Community Manager will oversee the Desk Exchange program.  

  • Future Development

    • Project Assistance

      • Help Executive Director create and develop systems that support TAC (ie. resource page, Member handbook, etc) as requested and as time allows.

      • Maintain weekly reports to track all project development

NOTE: Project Assistance as requested by The Executive Director shall not supercede daily management duties as previously described.

Time Commitment: Monday through Friday 9am -5pm with a 30 min break for lunch

Compensation: 18/hr

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills as well as strong organizational and management skills.  A self-starter with the ability to set a friendly environment for the space, to maintain space cleanliness, to solve complex and delicate problems and to keep the operations of a cool coworking space running smoothly.

 Candidates must possess an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field, and exceptional verbal and written communications skills are a must.
